Here are the some important questions to consider when choosing a senior living community:

• How are meals presented and how do they taste? Do they offer multiple menu options and accommodate special diets? Are dining hours flexible and can meal plans be customized?
• Are there several activities scheduled each day? Do the outings appeal to you or your loved one? Does the community promote an active lifestyle by offering several different types of exercise programs?
• Is there a licensed nurse on staff and, if so, how many hours per day? What are the qualifications for caregivers and what type of training have they received? If care needs increase in the future, will the community be able to accommodate 'aging in place'?
• Are the grounds attractive? Is there plenty of parking and access to transportation if needed? Does the community feel inviting, smell fresh and appear clean in the common areas and living areas (apartments or rooms)?
