April 2015

Dear Fedelta Staff,

picture-steveHappy spring! Here in the Pacific Northwest, we’ve been seeing some of the signs of spring for a few weeks now. But April is typically when we can finally say “winter is over” and look forward to the warm and (hopefully) sunny days of summer! In this issue of the Fedelta newsletter, we’ll be celebrating spring in a number of ways – in honor of April Fools’ Day, we’ll be discussing the benefits of laughter – it may be that laughter truly is the best medicine! We’ll also be talking about spring cleaning – discover how this annual rite of passage can actually improve your health and safety! And finally, we’ll introduce you to Krystal Young, a Fedelta caregiver and our latest scholarship recipient. Krystal is pursuing a nursing career at Pacific Lutheran University. Her generous spirit and compassionate attention to numerous clients make her worthy of our attention and assistance.

Spring represents a reawakening, a renewal of hope and the promise of better days to come. Enjoy the season and stay well!

Meet Krystal Young, Our Latest Scholarship Recipient

Every year Fedelta awards scholarships to employees who work towards improving their skills with additional education. As one of the only home care agencies that recognizes and rewards these ambitions and accomplishments, we are very excited to announce our newest recipient, Krystal Young. Read more about Krystal.

Good Health is a Laughing Matter

Have you ever noticed how relaxed you become after a hearty laugh? There’s a reason for that! A strong laugh is like giving your body an internal massage. It stimulates the organs and opens up blood vessels, allowing blood to flow more freely throughout the body. Read more.

Bring More Laughter into Your Life

So, now that you know that laughter is good for you, how do you go about laughing more? Here’s some tips to bringing more laughter into your life.

Spring Cleaning – Give Your Home a Health Makeover

After hibernating in a closed house for the winter, the first signs of spring present the opportunity to fling open a window and allow some fresh air in. Spring provides an excellent opportunity to take stock of our personal inventory and do a little sprucing up or getting rid of those things that no longer serve us. Read more.

How Fedelta Can Help

Our in-home caregivers make great companions. In addition to helping out with personal care – bathing, dressing, medication management – our caregivers can be someone to talk and joke with or go to a movie or a walk in the park. Socialization encourages laughter and our companions make it easy for you or a loved one to socialize and feel more human. Our caregivers can even help with some light housekeeping to help keep the home comfortable and safe. Our geriatric care managers can provide an in-home assessment to ensure you or a loved one is living as safely and comfortably as possible.

Featured Program

Our Companionship program allows family members – who may be overloaded by the demands of work and their own families – to know their loved one is not only being taken care of, but is engaged in life. Our companions soon become “one of the family” and help ensure your loved continues to lead of life of purpose and joy.

Fedelta FAQs

Fedelta Feedback

"My friend and mentor is a retired college professor who had a passion for the arts and traveling abroad. Her lifestyle changed dramatically a few years ago, when she had a massive stroke and was then diagnosed with dementia. Her siblings in Norway encouraged her to sell her home and move into an adult family home, but she is independent and wanted to remain at home. She enlisted my help to find a qualified company that could provide both nursing care and companion-care services. Fedelta has been helping my friend for the past three years, looking out for her best interests and bringing her joy. I can count on them for progress updates, and they respond quickly when changes occur. Fedelta delivers compassionate, quality care not only to the elder client, but also to their loved ones." – Christianne, Friend and Advocate
